Why does France ban the use of Kratom?
The use of Kratom is not without its ups and downs around the world. For some countries, it is a product whose consumption is beneficial to health. On the other hand, other countries such as France have banned the marketing of this plant altogether. Classified as a psychotropic substance by the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines, Kratom is recognised as a drug that is harmful to the human body. It is responsible for several phenomena.
Weight loss and Anorexia
France is one of the countries where Kratom is not welcome. This is a decision taken by the decree of 1 January 2020, the content of which can be read on https://www.tips-of-the-day.com/. Indeed, unlike the United States or Canada, countries where the consumption of this product is still a reality, the French authorities do not want to hear about it. According to the French National Agency for Medicines (ANSM), this plant releases psychotropic effects that are dangerous for health. Moreover, a survey carried out showed that thanks to awareness-raising, only 14 cases of users were recorded and one death. This means that some people are obtaining their supplies clandestinely. According to the ANSM, the consumption of this product can lead to weight loss, toxic hepatitis and anorexia.
Several deaths recorded
The use of this product has already wreaked havoc in other countries. In the United States, until 2017, 43 states allowed the consumption of Kratom. But between 2016 and 2017, the authorities counted a total of 100 deaths linked to the use of this product. A balance sheet that triggers the alarm. Thus, since 2017, any import of this product can be seized by the authorities. It is therefore to prevent these cases of mass deaths that France has banned both the marketing and consumption of this stimulant. Better still, all online shops have been alerted. Several sanctions are foreseen for those who do not comply.
